As the Nederlandse Händelvereniging, we are passionate about sharing our love of classical music with society. Over the years, we have participated by invitation in flash mobs, New Year’s receptions, anniversaries, memorial services, and benefit concerts.
We also organise special projects aimed at increasing musical knowledge and appreciation of classical music. For example, during the Dutch Handel Days, our ambassador Ton Koopman gave a masterclass to conservatory students on mastering ornamentation in Handel’s arias. In earlier years, we also organised accessible sing-along events such as a Scratch Messiah and a Christmas Carol Concert.
Music is a universal language that brings connection and joy, regardless of a person’s background or financial situation. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, grant providers, and sponsors, we are able to offer discounted tickets or complimentary admission to young people, senior citizens, and refugees. We do this because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to attend our concerts and events, and to experience together the beauty of live classical music in magnificent venues such as the Grote Kerk Naarden and the Concertgebouw.

In 2024, the Nederlandse Händelvereniging was invited to present a special anniversary concert celebrating the centenary of the Maria Church, also known as the Dome Church, in Bussum. This monumental church was designed by the renowned architects Cuypers.
Under the direction of conductor Rick Muselaers, the choir performed selections from George Frideric Handel’s Messiah. Between the choral pieces, connecting texts were read aloud. Wybe Kooijmans accompanied the choir on the monumental Steinmeyer organ from 1923, which was restored and rebuilt in 2012.
The Nederlandse Händelvereniging occasionally participates in flash mobs that fill public spaces with music and energy. These spontaneous performances capture the attention of unsuspecting passers-by, who enjoy the impressive choral singing and festive atmosphere. A dynamic way to share the power and joy of music with a wide audience!
