Welcome to the Dutch Handel Society

Sing along!

Come and join one of our rehearsals (just let us know you’re coming!). If you like it, you can immediately join a few more rehearsals. About us

The Dutch Handel Society (Nederlandse Händelvereniging, NHV) was originally founded in 1934 in Bussum under the name Christian Oratorio Society “Bel Canto”. In the year of liberation, 1945, Handel’s Messiah was performed in English in several locations across the Netherlands, followed in 1946 by Handel’s great liberation oratorio Judas Maccabaeus. That same year marked the official founding of the society under the name Nederlandse Händelvereniging. This means that in 2021, the Dutch Handel Society celebrated its 75th anniversary.
