Who are the people behind the voices of the Nederlandse Händelvereniging? In our Member Spotlight series, we introduce the choir members who together form the heart of our association.
They have been members of the Nederlandse Händelvereniging for several years now, but who are the men behind these two voices?
We have been living in the beautiful village of Wilnis since 2008 . Sadly, we have been without a cat for the past five weeks, but we hope another lovely companion will cross our path soon. Professionally, we work in completely different fields: Marco as an ICT specialist at a major bank, and Jeroen as a trainer in the world of air traffic control.
What we share is a passion for good food and everything that comes with it — from wine and whisky to excellent coffee, which Jeroen roasts himself at home. We also enjoy wonderful holidays, each time with a different theme. And of course, music plays an essential role in our lives.
Marco began his singing career at the age of 17 with the Youth and Men’s Choir of the Agnes Church in The Hague, while Jeroen was already on stage at the age of 8 as the “Minister of Musical Affairs” in a musical performed by the Schipluiden Children’s Choir.
Their singing became more serious from 2005 onwards with the VU Choir, followed by the Amsterdams Gemengd Koor and the Dutch Concert Choir. From Bach, Brahms, and Handel to opera and film music — they love it all.
We simply love singing and hope to continue performing with this wonderful choir for many years to come!
As the Dutch Handel Society, we want to share our love of classical music with the community. We regularly respond to requests to participate in flash mobs, New Year receptions, anniversaries, memorial services, and benefit concerts. We also organize special projects for target groups to increase their musical knowledge and appreciation of classical music.
