Ed Spanjaard dirigeert Messiah bij de Nederlandse Händelvereniging

Published on 30 April 2026

Ed Spanjaard, the renowned conductor and pianist, is a unique figure in today’s Dutch classical music scene. He has conducted numerous international orchestras, produced dozens of operas, performed at the royal wedding in 2002, and teaches orchestral conducting at the Koninklijk Conservatorium. Most recently, he served — for the second season — as chairman of the jury on the successful television programme Maestro.

About accompanying and conducting singers, he says:

“The story transformed into music, the dramatic aspect, and all the emotions that come with it must resonate in your heart and throughout your entire body.”

We are therefore deeply honoured that our traditional Messiah concerts will be conducted by this beloved and nationally and internationally acclaimed conductor, and we are very much looking forward to this special collaboration.

Tickets for Handel’s Messiah conducted by Ed Spanjaard will soon be available through this website:

  • Friday 18 December at the Grote Kerk Naarden
  • Sunday 20 December at the Concertgebouw
